FAQs
Who We Are
M&D Farm is an authentic garden wedding venue nestled on private grounds, offering a romantic and intimate setting with a European feel. Most celebrations include an outdoor ceremony, cocktails in the garden, dinner under the sky, and dancing in our restored barn, but everything can be tailored to your vision. The property features 10 distinct garden areas for guests to discover and meander through as the event unfolds.
What is your wedding season?
Our wedding season runs from late May to early October.
How many guests can M&D Farm host for an event?
To maintain the intimate and private character of our events, we cap the guest count at a maximum of 150 people (including the couple). This helps us uphold the curated, relaxed, and refined experience that makes your celebration at M&D Farm truly special.
Can we bring in vendors who aren’t on your preferred list?
Of course! Once couples sign with us, we share our curated vendor list, but we’re happy to work with your own vendor preferences too.
We do pay special attention when it comes to catering, mainly because of the higher level of liability involved. The caterer hired for the day must provide and serve both food and alcohol, and they must own a valid New York State full liquor license.
How much does a day-of event at M&D Farm usually cost?
It really depends on the vendors you choose (for example, a DJ versus a band), your guest count, and the kind of production you’re envisioning. While we can advise on our venue fees, we’re also happy to share insights on other key services, especially catering.
Catering
Among the caterers we recommend, pricing currently starts around $165 per person, including alcohol for a five-hour service. That usually covers tableware, equipment, and staffing. It’s also good to keep in mind that caterers generally add tax and a service charge to their final total. Caterers at M&D Farm offer all types of service styles (plated, family-style, buffet), including extended cocktail hour receptions, which pair beautifully with our venue’s European, laid-back chic vibe.
Floral Design
When it comes to floral design, many couples find they can save significantly, since you’re essentially getting married in a garden. That’s why they often focus their floral budget on the dining area tablescapes, where even the simplest details are naturally elevated by the surroundings.
Vendors in General
M&D Farm also promotes local businesses and vendors, many of whom are part of our curated list. Couples consistently appreciate their high-quality service and more reasonable pricing compared to many non-local options.
Included Items
Our venue packages also include a wide selection of thoughtfully chosen items, such as tables and chairs for the ceremony and reception, accent pieces, outdoor lanterns, market umbrellas, and lounge furniture. These inclusions always reduce the need for additional rentals, making the experience more seamless and budget-friendly, without compromising on style.
What’s the plan in case of rain?
Reserving a tent is recommended in case of inclement weather. If rain is expected during ceremony time, the ceremony is typically moved to the barn, and dinner takes place under the tent in the dining courtyard. Couples reserve a tent by placing a deposit with the rental company and can wait up to 72 hours before the event to make their final decision. Tent pricing depends on the type and size selected.
What are the accommodation options around M&D Farm?
There are several hotels, inns, B&Bs, and vacation rentals in the area. Because M&D Farm is strategically located between Albany and Hudson, most couples choose to block rooms in one or both locations (Albany is about 25 minutes away, and Hudson is about 35 minutes). Most guests are shuttled from their accommodations to the venue, with just a few arriving by car and parking on site. Our vendor list also includes recommended lodging and transportation companies experienced with M&D Farm events.
Is M&D Farm pet friendly?
We love pets and know they’re part of the family! With prior approval, pets are welcome to be part of your celebration for a small additional fee per pet (maximum of two). This helps us ensure the property remains well cared for and the event flows smoothly for everyone—two- and four-legged guests alike.
How many hours does the Day of Event Site Rental package cover?
The Day of Event Site Rental includes a 13-hour rental window for a 6-hour wedding celebration. The 6-hour period begins at pre-ceremony (which starts 30 minutes before the ceremony itself). Check-in begins at 10:00am, and check-out is by 11:00pm, when all events must end to comply with town ordinances.
The same 6-hour event window applies to the 2-Night Stay Site Rental package.
The 13-hour rental period offers plenty of time for vendor setup and breakdown. When possible, we also allow for a pre-set the day before the event, depending on the schedule. Vendors are welcome to stay after the event to pack out comfortably.
I would like to move forward with the Day of Event Site Rental. Is there a possibility to use more space in the house?
Yes, there is! The Day of Event Site Rental package includes access to the M&D Farm Suite, which features a bedroom with an adjacent full bathroom on the ground floor, along with its private back patio. If you’d like additional space in the house for the wedding party to get ready, we offer a Day of House Rental add-on for an extra fee. You can decide and confirm this closer to your event, depending on your needs.
How can I secure a date at M&D Farm?
Reserving your date at M&D Farm is a simple process! Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll send you our contract with your details filled in for your convenience.
Our payment schedule is:
- First Installment: 25% of the selected rental package, due at signing.
- Second Installment: 25% due 30 days after the first payment.

What’s included in your Design and Planning plus Day-of Coordination add-on package?
We’re proud to offer an in-house service that’s truly part of the M&D Farm experience. Because we know the property inside and out, we bring a deep understanding of what works beautifully here. Our support begins the moment you book the service, no need to wait until a few months before the wedding to start planning.
We call it co-design and planning because we’re here to collaborate, not take over. You have a vision, and we’re available along the way to answer questions, guide vendor decisions, and help shape a celebration that feels uniquely yours. We’ll also create a personalized timeline and coordinate in the days leading up to, and on, the wedding day to ensure everything flows smoothly.
We’re available via email, phone, and FaceTime throughout the process, and we continue the conversation during your on-site visits to M&D Farm. Walkthroughs are a key part of how we help turn your plans into something real and beautifully orchestrated.
This service is available at an additional fee, one we’ve kept very reasonable compared to market rates, especially considering the level of support and expertise included.
